Gozzo

Gozzo PASCIA' table details

The one and only “Gozzo” of the Venetian lagoon

What is a "Gozzo"?

It seems that the Arabs invented it and that it was observed and appreciated by the navigators of the ancient maritime republics, always wandering around the ports of the eastern Mediterranean. The internal structure of the boat resembles the skeleton of a whale: its rounded, chubby shape was perfect for a cargo vessel and not a racing one.

Nowadays the Gozzo represents one of the most stylish boats to navigate.

Why choose a “Gozzo” for your boat tours in Venice?

The gozzo is a type of boat that allows ample space for movement on board. In the upper part comfortable seats allow you to enjoy 360 degree views, for indelible memories to photograph. The boat is equipped with a bathroom and an outdoor table where you can enjoy an aperitif or a glass of the best wines of the region.

The hidden islands of the lagoon and biking in St. Erasmo, the Monastery of St. Francis

(6 HOURS with lunch)

Sant’Erasmo is nothing like Venice: no palazzos or museums, only limitless fields with vegetable cultivations, vineyards and verdant lanes, surrounded by mesmerising views of nature and the lagoon. Often referred to as “the vegetables garden of La Serenissima”, it is the largest island in the Venetian Lagoon and provides a largely tourist-free refuge for all those seeking peace and quiet.

Breathe in the air of the lagoon and cycle through the flat landscape dotted with farms and rural small-holdings, where local peasants produce healthy and tasty farm-to-table products such as artichokes, honey and wine, to mention but a few. Pause for a delicious lunch and sample the island’s local products.

Adding a slow bike tour (optional) allows you to savour life at a gentle pace and cross some hidden and unknown paths you would not otherwise venture into. Upon request, it is possible to add to the tour the visit of San Francesco del Deserto, a monastery island still inhabited by Franciscan monks, a real oasis of peace (time restrictions for visitors).
